USA Network’s entire programming lineup is returning next year: The network has just renewed “Royal Pains,” “White Collar” and “Psych” for another season.
The network previously agreed to bring back “In Plain Sight,” “Burn Notice,” “Covert Affairs” and “Law & Order: Criminal Intent.”
“It’s a wonderful validation that the shows are working,” said USA programming president Jeff Wachtel.
With seven returning dramas, USA is close to having a stable of successful hour-long shows that equals some broadcast networks. Though USA expects to once again launch one or two new dramas next year, executives plan to expand into new genres, such as comedy and unscripted programming, to help broaden the lineup.
“Though its lovely to celebrate success, it also allows us to push out — you don’t want to alienate your base, but you don’t want to sit still,” he said.
Even if the network reaches its broad-spectrum goals, Wachtel expects USA to continue feeling like a cable enterprise rather than a broadcast network.
“In our early days, original programming was seen as an elective,” he said. “It’s not an elective anymore, but it’s also not an imperitive to fill time slots. We’re still able to be more hand-crafted. We’re not going to get to the point of, ‘oh my god, we need a comedy block on Monday nights.’ It’s still going to remain ‘no show before its time.'”
“Royal Pains” will return for 16 to 18 episodes, more likely 18, which helps the network split the show’s season into two uninterrupted runs. The show was second only to its “Burn Notice” lead-in for delivering adults 18-49 this summer among scripted shows (3.5 million in the demo). “White Collar” will get 16 episodes and drew 2.3 million in the demo. “Psych” will also receive 16 episodes, and ranked as the summer’s top scripted show on cable Wednesday nights in the demo (2.3 million).

New York (September 2010): Matt Bomer has been lighting up the small screen as Neal Caffrey, a convicted con man turned FBI collaborator, on crime drama White Collar (USA Network, 2009-present).
This October in IN New York Magazine, the Texas-born Bomer reveals what it is like to co-star alongside New York City. “We’re lucky …because we get to shoot in some amazing brownstones and penthouse apartments with million-dollar chandeliers,” says the 33-year-old.
White Collar has featured such iconic locations as Times Square, Columbus Circle, Battery Park, Central Park, Madison Square Park and the Financial District. Lever House (390 Park Ave.) is used as the FBI’s headquarters and Bomer’s character Neal lives in a rooftop apartment in Tudor City (btw First & Second aves., from E. 41st to E. 43rd sts.)
In reality Bomer splits his time between five-month shoots in Manhattan and his home in Los Angeles. While in New York City he enjoys going to Smalls jazz club in Greenwich Village, museums including the Museum of Modern Art and the Guggenheim, attending the theater and shopping at designer boutiques, including Save Khaki, Band of Outsiders, Paul Smith, John Varvatos and Rag & Bone.

Since Matt will be turning 33 years old on October 11th, I thought it would be a good time to start planning for it. I decided to create a birthday book this year for all the fans to sign. Besides leaving him a message, you can also post a link to a small graphic, or perhaps a YouTube video you have created. All submissions will be reviewed before they will appear and the deadline is October 11th @ 11:59 PM. I will be sending Jeff Eastin and one of the “White Collar” writers the link, and hopefully they’ll pass it along to Matt. If you have any problems, questions, or concerns, please let me know. Hope you like it!
