Hello! First of all, sorry for the lack of updates. Been dealing with some offline stuff, but with everything sorted out, its time to catch up with our Bomerland goodies!
Last November it was announced Matt would be one of the stars part of the production of Mart Crowley’s groundbreaking comic drama The Boys in the Band. Tickets sale started on January 20th (on telecharge.com). Performances begins on April 30, with opening date set for May 31th, running until August 12 at New York City’s Booth Theatre.
Mart Crowley’s landmark 1968 play centers on a group of gay men who gather in a NYC apartment for a friend’s birthday party. After the drinks are poured and the music turned up, the evening slowly exposes the fault-lines beneath their friendships and the self-inflicted heartache that threatens their solidarity. A true theatrical game-changer, The Boys in the Band helped spark a revolution by putting gay men’s lives onstage – unapologetically and without judgment – in a world that was not yet willing to fully accept them.
The stars reunited last month for a promotional photoshoot, and a video has been released. On it, Bomer talked a little bit about the relevance of the play.
“It’s this group of guys that do have this anger that’s just boiling to the surface. And I think there are a lot of undercurrents of that particular emotion in our society right now.”
